When a sad mood lasts for a long time and interferes with normal, everyday functioning, you may be depressed.

Depression can present with irritability, loss of interest in pleasure, pessimism, hopelessness, insomnia, guilt feeling, suicidal thoughts. at the same time. Anxiety symptoms include sudden overwhelming fear, breathlessness, palpitations, sweating, sense of choking, fear of dying or serious illness. Panic attacks are sudden severe forms of anxiety.
